The cigarette lighter socket in the dash is rattling around and driving me nuts.

From feel, there's a 90 degree connector for the wire and the socket seems to just be snapped in.

So I figure that I'll pull the fuse, then the wire and just get the socket out of the dash and either add a o-ring or gasket or RTV so it doesn't rattle.

Is the socket in fact just pushed/snapped in?

And does it just pull out, or is there some trick to getting the socket out?

Thanks

The rear housing of the lighter behind the dash screws onto the front portion of the lighter sticking through from the front of the dash. Reach in behind and take a turn on it while holding the front portion stationary. That should tighten her up.

Well, it wouldn't tighten; but it loosened............. :(

So I took it out and couldn't see any reason why it wouldn't tighten.

:?

Put it back in, and.........

it tightened :D
