I have a '76 Duster, and pulled a power steering pump and bracket from an early 70's Dodge truck (not sure on the specifics). Both the truck and the Duster have a 225. When I tried to install it on my Duster, the PS pump hits the cross-member. Does anyone know if the brackets would be different? I expected them to be the same.

Thanks,
-Ben

Yup, lots of different P/S pump brackets made for various years and models.

Well that sucks. Does anyone know which models have a PS bracket that would fit a '76 duster? Or, even better, does anyone want to get rid of a bracket that will fit?

What happened to the ones that came with your car?

Reed: I am swapping over from manual to power steering, so I never had one. The manual box was worn out, so I decided to upgrade to PS rather than just replace it.

I'll bet Charrlie_S can help you out. He's in your neighborhood.

I just upgraded last year from Power Steering to manual. :D

In the long run you would be happier with the manual brakes. Its a pain to swap steering coluoms and everything else. Also it robs power from your slant.

CJ: Thanks for the reference, I will see if he can help me out.

DusterIdiot: I had to pull the PS box from my parts car to get the core charge back for the new PS box. I need the old manual box to put in the parts car (I like to keep them mobile). So if we traded, I would need an old PS box from you for the parts car. It doesn't have to work well, just good enough for me to push the car around in the yard. Let me see if Charrlie_S has any brackets first.

Frank: Hopefully I will like the power steering. I got the box from Firm Feel, and they seem to do pretty good work. I already swapped the columns, box, and pitman arm. All that is left is the pump (I thought this would be the easiest part ) :D . Since this is my daily driver, I am hoping the power robbed from the engine is worth the power robbed from my arm every time I try to park this thing.
