Can anyone give me some pointers on tracking down a transmission leak. I have a 63 Valiant with a 3 speed auto transmission. I'm not sure which one it is. I have never done any type of transmission work, so I don't really have a clue. Any help is appreciated. John Killin5@yahoo.com |

Both are generally called 904 Torqueflites (sp?) 66 was a "transition year", these have a mechanical shift linkage, 60 - 65 had the cable linkage. On the leaking 63 904, (cable or "flange type") the most common places they leak from is out of the small seal where the kickdown lever goes into the case. Also inspect the cables themselfs, (2 cables, one for shifting, one for "park") these cables will leak if the housing has been damaged or burned-away from laying on the nearby exhaust pipe. DD |
