hello. a while back i was given a OMC /6. is there anything unique about these? thanks, Andy.

The block and head are same as passenger car, but much of the rest of the equipment is different. Water pump, oil pan, valve cover, manifolds, ignition, etc.

and ---- if it originally started life as part of a twin engine setup,it MIGHT be reverse rotation :( .I have seen a couple,and an ad for a pair only a couple of years ago.

There were both cast and forged crank marine engines so, yes.

I didn't say that. If the engine truly came from Chrysler Marine and Industrial the crank may not have been drilled for a pilot bearing.

If reverse rotation the rear main surface groves/lines will then direct oil out of the seal instead of back inside when used in standard rotation engine.
