The factory service manual outlines how to jack up the engine and remove the oil pump.

I don't have a factory manual and I was not sure if there might be a timing or other issue with the R/R of the pump. Thanks Paul

If you get the motor jacked up high enough, the pump is an easy out and back in. It does not have to be timed.

Make sure to take the cover off and pack the gears in vaseline before you put the pump back in.

Packing the pump should only be necessary with a brand new (dry) pump. If we're just pulling the pump, replacing the gasket, and reinstalling the pump, it won't lose its prime and no disassembly or packing should be needed.

Unfasten the right-side engine mount, put a sturdy and stable board between your floor jack and the engine oil pan, and carefully start jacking. The engine will pivot about the left-side engine mount and eventually you will have enough clearance to R&R the oil pump. If the car has A/C, make sure you don't jack the engine so high as to damage any refrigerant hardlines that might be close to the valve cover.
