I happen to have 2 TQs apart as we speak, but this could apply to any carb; How do you guys clean your carbs while apart? I never liked the idea, but I know several people that like to bead blast their parts; I never liked the idea, for several reasons; I know that glass bead is "easier" on aluminum than either silica sand or "Black Beauty" (coal slag) but I doubt that you can get "every little bit" out, meaning its still there to wear shafts, get into the engine etc. Paranoia??? I did experiment on a junk base plate, and it does look nice, cleaned it up w'o much noticeable distortion to gasket surfaces, etc.

No bead blasting, just in carb dip.
You don't want to take off all the alodine/anodizing.

bout what I thought; but thought I'd ask just because so many people do; these ones I have apart at hand, have no coating; (look at the rusty linkage!) I've redone lots of carbs, and have always "dunked" them.
