Could someone measure the diameter of a /6 torque converter and/or give me a tooth count? I just tried to start my new slant with a converter i had custom made by TCI a little over a year ago, and the starter is hitting the teeth, almost like the converter is a little too big around. this is on a 62 btw, dunno if that matters besides the smaller pilot size. Thanks. |

Makes me wonder if your '62 is really a '61 (or if at some point a '61 trans and starter were swapped in), or if the TCI converter was made with the '60-'61 ring gear. What kind of starter are you trying to use? |

There are several different Mopar starters. What exactly do you mean by "coffee can" starter? It matters; please be precise. |

I'll have to take some pictures and part numbers once I get back in town on Thursday. I tried 2 of them, maybe the 3rd would be the charm, lol. |

How many teeth are in the current ring gear? The common gear reduction starters use a 122 tooth count. DD |

I did a tooth count with the help of a friend and a grease pencil. The Ring Gear that they put on the TQ has 148 teeth, so quite a few more than Doc says I need. I called TCI, and they're gonna need me to pull it out so they can ID it and hopefully put something together and get it out to me. |
