I have an 78 Aspen with a Super 6 and what I think is a 904 and 35,000 original miles . Well I was driving the car and over the last few days I had felt a strange jerking which felt like either the trans or ignition breakdown .
The problem I had today was I drove the car all day and parked it several times ( yard sailing) and went on to work , about 6 hours later I went to go home and when I put the car in gear it doesn't move .
I feel it hit reverse and drive right on time but it doesn't pull , the fluid looks overfull like the pump isn't working , and the fluid is clean and not burnt .
Please help me out on this and Thank You Jim

Sorry to say that usualy is the pump going out and the stall in reverse is the torque converter locking up,because the pump can't apply enough pressure to release the converter
