I went to Napa yesterday to get new motor mounts for my 1964 Valiant powered by a 225. They told me they don't have them in stock and can't get them. I did some looking on line and a set of 3 (left/right/transmission) goes for $135 and up. Is this the going rate? If not, does anyone know a place where I can order them for less? Are some brands better than others?

Are there any other Slant Six parts that are getting hard to find?

Thanks,
Ken

I would call a bunch of auto parts places.

Believe it or not, I happened to be in Maui about 2 years ago, at a Napa,
and asked if by chance they had them. They had one!
So, if they did, others certainly must. Don't get too reliant on the web.

Christ the only Mount they offer is the transmission mount for auto/manual. I've been doing some digging and no one I came across offers new motor mounts for the slant. I Wonder if the 273 mounts if offered would work in it's place.

Dan doesn't like these, as they are made offshore. I have used them without problems, and untill there are better ones available (poly mounts from any source), pretty much the only game in town. http://www.motormountz.com/motor-mounts ... mit=Search

The India/China-made mounts are crap, but they're all that's available thru normal channels right now. Old Car Parts Northwest has some new old stock (American-made) Anchor mounts on the shelf. Imperial Services' polyurethane mounts for these cars have been vaporware for years; Ceej and I are working on excellent '62-'66 A-body slant-6 engine mounts with Johnny at Polybushings (who recently and very quickly developed and began producing poly biscuits for the '73+ spool mounts), but for right this minute your options are OCPNW or the compressed cow poo items.

Hi Dan,
Do you have a ballpark estimate on when the poly mounts will be produced and price? I don't need them "right this minute," I 'm going to be putting a new engine in my Valiant next summer and I'm accumulating parts.

Thanks,
Ken

No ETA yet — I took some parts last week to Ceej, who is doing some measuring and checking as a first step to seeing whether the mount upgrade idea in mind is feasible. If so, it'll be pursued. If not, the backup plan is poly versions of the stock '62-'66 mount cushion (which would likely be worth doing anyhow). Once the measurements and parts are sent on to Johnny, we'll have a conversation about which way's best to go at first. I would guess/hope they'll be ready well before next summer, tho I can't promise it won't be before this autumn.
