I won a runner up slot for the slingshot dragster chassis for last years cen-pen drawing. It's a 50% off thing. Seems they will be hauling a trailer out to Bakersfield, and have one more slot open for that. ($500 for the delivery to Bakersfield + the cost of the chassis itself.)

As I just got my lay off notice, I'm not going to take advantage of it.

Anybody out here want a slingshot chassis? I could probably "purchase" it for your build.

Need to know right away, and if your not somebody I know from the track, we'll have to figure the money out up front.

Look it up at www.slingshotdragsters.com

Your a lot closer to them than I am.

They are in PA.

Not sure how they'd react to having "A racing buddy from Indianapolis" take delivery.

I think the price for the chassis is about right at $2k
At $4k it's pushing the reality envelope a bit.

How 'bout it Doc? Sergio? Wanna get really light?

Needs to be in 2009, and be a 2009 build date.

I need to let him know pretty soon...

Frank, if you're serious, my son lives less than ten minutes from the Hershey area. Storing it for a little while wouldn't be a problem either. RICK

I believe Frank is pretty serious about this! :D

Frank and I had a nice long talk this evening, and we're working to get this set up.

That will be Great. First CJ and I have to get together on how we want to build this.
Im thinking of the short wheel base 144" with the seat, front axle, and steering packages, Blown slant and cable shift TF904.
Anyone feel free to look at the web site and make recommendations. I am thinking 2-3 year build up.
Frank

Very good! Glad to see someone is taking advantage of this. Can't wait to see the build pics. Old school dragsters are very cool. Old school dragsters with a slant, priceless!

Hi Guys. I am new at this site as I just got into / sixs. I have been running Front Engine Dragsters since the early 70's. I looked at the site and it looks pretty good. I shuddered when I saw the drum brakes though. Let's hope they are for mock-up only. Drum brakes can be self energizing and in certain conditions, you may want to be applying the brakes while at full throttle, so you can see what a disaster that would be.
Frank, You mentioned a 144" WB. This may be a little short. Think of it this way. When you launch, you want the front end a light as possible. A 2-3" wheelstand is perfect for weight transfer. In high HP situations, the longer wheelbase acts like a lever arm so that the front end bbalance canbe achieved without added weight. Another aspect of length has to do with how straight the car will go with the front wheels in the air. The longer the WB, the more the car can resist subtle traction differences between the rear wheels.
Another issue with shorter cars is the pogo stick effect. Look at some old video of the shorter cacarsnand youan see them almost bobouncing around Fuel Altereds used to make this look funny, but what a hahandfuls WBwbs gotonger, the cars smsmoothed outnd were much easier to drive.
My current car is a 1967 Woody Gilmore car that I got after someone tried to "repair" it. It was a 105" WB car that had been cut down to 176". I have been toying with the idea of doing the /six with injection and Methanol. It seems like this WB would be about right.
I hope this helps a little. I will be more than glad to help any way I can. I even have some spare parts for chassis if you find you need something. Let us know how it is going.
Thanks
