Well I finally got back to working on my 64 Valiant. I had bought leaf springs from J.C. Whitney several months ago and tried to install them today. They appear to be the wrong ones although JC Whitney says they are not. They are about 2.5 inches too long and the front bushing is too wide for the bracket. Also the nub? is in a different location than the old one. I also bought the rear shackles which are exact matches for the old springs but the bushings are too small for the new springs. Anyone with any experience with this situation. The part number from JC is 967570. I already tried a search in here with no success...thanks for any advice....Mark

It sounds like the springs are b-body or for a full size.rear shackles for a-body are different then b/c-body.a-body cars use a smaller bushings than the b/c bodies.

Well good ole JC finally did send the right spring, and I did say spring because they back ordered the other one which I wont get for another 3 weeks lol. Its taking me months to do what I could do in a day if I had the parts. Funny thing is the new spring I just got is a 5 leaf variety which the original ones were not. Hope its not too stiff, im old and need the comfort..Mark

Mark,

Just soak your hind quarters in a bucket of Novocain before a drive... You'll be fine.

I am also strongly tending in the old direction, and have new six leaf springs on my 1967 GT. She ride real nice.

Buy from ESPO.com after this.....they are great!
I had some special heavy duty ones built for my Dart and I can haul 1000lbs.
in the trunk and still be level..........

I have a trailer hitch from hell from the factory which has it's own roll cage around the gas tank.

I know I shouldn't be using it as a truck....but all the concrete block was on sale......
:!: Thankfully the 8 3/4 holds up under the abuse.....
