Do all slant 6's have the cranks drilled for the pilot shaft bushing? I'm looking to replace the engine in my 3 spd truck, and found a low milage engine w an automatic? Anything else I need to check on? Tx

More info please... Years, and what vehicle(s) would help a lot.

Most all the SL6 cranks are drilled, some are not finished reamed to size but there is a special pilot bushing that can be used with those.

Looking for a solid lifter engine for my 78 D100 half ton. Found a newer 82 w a 904 trans, but that has the hydraulic lifers. What years should I be looking for. Thanks.

'79 and earlier. That '78 should have a solid lifter engine in it. I suggest in no case accept anything older than '68. (Personally, I prefer the '68-'75 engines.)

Are you looking for a buildable core, or something to drop right in?

Roger

Looking for something I can drop right in. If I've got to to a rebuild, I'll rebuild mine-I've put all 149K miles on it since I bought it in 80. I've got a reworked head, if I could find a good known bottom half I'd do that, if not I'll go through mine-I know its clean, and been maintained. I'm actually kinda surprised-I think she blew a head gasket, but the blowby has been getting worse over the past year or so. I've seen these things go a lot further with really poor maintenance. If I've got to go through it I'll do the top and bottom half and maybe do a cam while I've got it apart. I'm in the Hudson Valley of NY if you know of a good engine. Mike
