I recently had my stock alternator and regulator replaced with o.e.m. parts...
everything worked fine for about 200 miles, then i put in a stereo which sat in the dash box. I'm not sure exactly what constant power the spliced into but things looked fine when at the stereo shop. Till i had to drive home and had the lights on, when i exited the freeway it just shuttered and died...from there on whenever i am at a red light or have to brake to idle speed the car just looses power, even after i have taken the power to the stereo out...I read somewhere that the idle can have a effect on the charging? any help would be great, btw my temp gauge just started to act funny around the same time, it always shows about 1/2 the temp it is, but gas and alt gauge work fine...

Do your lights dim down when idling? If so, I suspect that the voltage regulator is faulty.

But, before you go replacing anything, check output of alternator, and all wire and connections in the charging circuit including battery terminals for corrosion, and clean as needed. Also make sure the voltage regulator, audio equipment, battery grounding terminals are clean, and make good contact with clean metal.
