Made 3 passes at the track today. Started to have hi gear troubles and called it quits. In hindsight, the trans was probably overheated as I made 3 passes almost back to back. After it cooled down it shifted fine for the ride home.

Track conditions DA 1879, temp 73*f

Changes from May. New aluminum drive shaft, 25psi of boost (up 3), replaced 2.94 with 2.76 gear. Still shifting around 4500rpm (In May it ran 12.32@110)

I'll get some vids up later.

Pass 1:
The 215/75r/14 radials heated nicely and it provided a new best 60' of 1.842. As soon as I hit second, the car started to spin the tires hard.
Ran 12.39 @113.65.

Between pass 1&2 a gasser does 180 in my same lane. Decided to try other lane for pass 2.

Pass 2: Good burnout, 1.86 60', car gets sideways as soon as I hit second and abort run. 15.67 @ 89.5mph

Pass 3: Decide original lane was better. Poor burnout but still get a 1.89 60'. I lifted slightly on the 1-2 shift to save the tires. Trans acted funny on the 2-3 (slow & let motor up rev for a split second before 3rd hit) New best for the stock slant 6 12.05et @ 115.59mph

If I had more time and a good trans this combo would have made 11's no problem.

Nice work, Tom! Serious MPH. You are starting to approach Ryan's MPH with a 0.3 sec worse 60 ft time.

Is there that much difference in HP between 16-18 psi and 25 psi??

Thanks Lou,

The power levels between 18psi and 25psi are almost exponential. Don't get me wrong 18psi feels good but when 25psi hits it is nite and day. The seat dyno can tell the difference.

Interesting. Tilley said there wasn't much difference in his car above 17 psi or so, at least on his latest incarnation.

Thanks,

Lou

Unreal. I sent the clip to the V8 crowd around here. Too bad that wasn't a 12.5 second big block beside the TurboSlant.

If i had my best launch of the day it would have been 11.95 to 11.99. How come they never seem to line up?
