Hi there,

I'm just about to install my exhaust/intake manifold, and one of the acorn nuts (which attach to each end of the manifold) is missing. They cup the gold colored congical washers.

What can I use instead? Does it matter?

Thanks alot!

Welcome on the board. Manifold attaching hardware is rather critical; you have to achieve the right balance between clamping force to prevent vacuum leaks, and slip allowance so the manifolds can shift with heat/cool cycles; otherwise they crack. Please see here for info on new castle nuts, and here for info on the preferable brass nuts for all the studs except the end ones where castle nuts are used. It is very much worth your while to get the good gaskets for the manifolds-to-head and intake-to-exhaust junctions.
