I am looking for advice on how to increase the horsepower and torgue on my '83 Ram Charger D-150 with a 225 slant six. It has the single bbl carb, etc. I have heard about a Hyperpak kit but am not sure what it is, how it works or where to get it. Since it is in a pick-up (good condition) I am not looking for racing power, but I am looking for additional torque and power for hauling or pulling. I also heard you can turbo charge this engine, can anyone tell me how?

Also if anyone has any tips for me about this pick-up they would be appreciated. I am wanting to do some restoration on it so I have a good running and dependable truck.

Hyperpak isn't going to work for the truck application, and you can spend the $$$ elsewhere...

Quite a few years back I worked with a guy who worked up a Ramcharger for his offroad hunting rig... His build up was typical for
torque:

He had the 11" clutch and NP435/married 4x4.
The engine he increased compression a bit, used
one of the torque cams and the super six intake and BBD.
Changed rear and front ratio to be kinder for the engine
given the weight.

I would suggest the above avenues of approach.

Mr Idiot is correct.

If a slant , big tires and off road is where you are headed you will want torque and gears.

If I was to do a slant Ramcharger I would stick with 31" tires max

and run a Super6. You can always go to low range.

Is this truck a standard trans?

Thats great advice and I appreciate it all. The truck is a 2 wheel drive and is a 4 speed manual trans with granny for 1st. I just want to increase the torque and some of the horsepower to get better performance out of my daily driver.

Hi WWadeHood, and welcome! Even if I signed up in this forum years ago, I haven't been very active until last year. My advise to you is that you take your time to read through some of the 'sticky' subject that are gathered in Frequently Asked Questions, as well as the article section, that way you can avoid some expensive traps! As you already have noticed, there are a lot of very friendly slantsix enthusiasts standing by to help you at any time. Ask questions and use the search function, there is a world of information at your fingertips, and there are tested and proven solutions to all your slantsix problems. I have been given all the help I need to upgrade my car, based upon sound advise from the forum. Good luck! Olaf
