I read in my Torqueflite Tranny book that the lock up can be disabled in my 998 Trans by installing a shim in the actuator.

Apart from that no data is given as to the size or conf. of said shim.

Anyone ever done this?

Thanks,

Chris

Why would you want to disable the lockup?

It will not engage for racing and when you are on the highway it improves milage.

I have considered all the possibilities and I want to try it.

It looks (from the book) like a fairly simple process. Easy to do, and easy to undo if I don't like it.

I am just trying to get an idea for shim thickness etc from anyone who has tried it.

Thanks

C

I Have never done it so I couldnt tell you how. But I don't think getting under the car, dropping the pan, disableing the lockup, putting it back together, and refilling the trans just in case I may like getting worse milage sounds easy to me.
