(1) 74 Duster- disc brake calipers go on front or back of the rotor? In other words, I don't know what side the spindles go on, so I need to know the caliper mounts on the leading or trailing side of the rotor. (I'm too lazy to dig out the service manual....)

(2) Whilst I was removing the passenger side lower control arm to replace the bushing, the stud that goes through the k-frame and into the LCA bushing slipped out of the bushing. Now the LCA is off but the stud is still in the K-frame and the nut is still tight on the stud. How should I go about holding the stud to take the nut off without damaging the stud?

Thanks!

The factory put the calipers to the front and the brake lines route better this way.

Did the metal sleeve stay on the LCA stud? If so I'd just grab it with vice grips and take off the retaining nut.

Yeah, after I looked at the calipers it dawned on me that you don't want to trap the air bubbles by putting the hose on the bottom. D'OH!

I am pretty sure the metal sleeve stayed on the stud since the bushing doesn't have a metal sleeve in it any more. I'll go double check. If the sleeve is still on the stud, Vise-grips. If the sleeve has gone AWOL, strap-wrench.

You might be able to get vise grips on the shoulder of the pin; if not just use a scrap of sheet metal to protect the pin from the teeth of the vise grips.
