How much fluid should I dump into it?

About a quart, maybe a little less.

When you fire the motor have the trans in neutral and it will fill anyway.

I always turn the new motor over with the ignition off until it builds oil pressure, that gets the converter filled too.

I would replace the pump seal while your at it, no matter how good it looks. I have had them leak pretty bad just from sitting a few days during an engine swap. It sucks having to do the work twice!

Don't forget to lube the pump bushing and seal too.
