Ok, so I basically went through several of the linkages on the rods that come off the steering column and tightened them up by adding some washers. Now my car is in reverse where I left it and I can't get it into any other gear. Can't even move the shift lever. Did I overdo the tightening up? Or am I missing something obvious? Thanks for the help. I'm about to undo what I just did but wanted to see if there was anything else to try before I go that route!

Ok, I reversed a few of the things I did and it loosened up enough to shift. Too bad. I had it nice and tight! TOO tight! :0

Yeah, good idea, too. I am going to continue to work on it. I think that's the first step, so there is play but not too little.

Try Dorman for a thin curved washer, I think they are called wave washers.
