Was working on Beater Valiant today and used up my last spares for brake parts. I know Dorman makes most of the parts for the drum brake sets, but I'm not seeing a part number in their line up for that flat/oval spring on the parking brake strut... Mopar Part number for 10" brakes used to be 3699945, I know a similar spring was used for the 9" drums found on 90's Jeeps (models using the rear drums at the time).

Is there a replacement for the 10" spring?

Your talking about the anti-rattle spring right? Never seen one new. I just did a search at O'Rielly's for my car and couldn't find one. It maybe a junk yard item? I woud assume the spring is the same for all 10" brakes, no?

SOMETIMES I see those included in the brake hardware kit but not awlays; I have seen them (not in a long time though) packaged and sold seperately; Raybestos used to sell the hold downs, the hold down "nails", and all teh return springs, the adjuster cable and its giude, etc all as seperate pieces; in fact this is common swap meet stuff whete the seller runs a "dig box" or a "dump table";
otherwise I have used the same spring you refer to off a Ford, on Mopars before. any old time Mom and Pop shops around that may have one layin around? do you have the one from the other side you could take with you to match up?

the way E brake cables like to rust up around these parts, that "shoe to shoe strut" is the most common part "left out" as "spare parts" upon doing a drum brake job.

I bought them new years ago from napa when I was putting together the sbp 10" A body 8 3/4 brakes.

Yearone shows one for 11" drums. Wonder how close that is.

I got new ones from the dealer just last month for about $3 and a three day wait.

Took a quick trip to the local Pick-A-Part...and although some of the connections to other brake parts are different, the springs and strut bar are the same on the 1985 Jeep cherokees Equipped with 10" drums...
Got 3 springs for $1 and they are in good shape... Looking around, I'm kind of amazed that Chrysler decided to keep the 9" drum setup allthe way through what looks to be the 90's in both the Jeep and the Minivan line...

Thanks for the info, since Jeeps have gone to rear discs, I wonder when their bin of these springs will run dry...
