I'm going to do a front disc conversion, and these two seem to be complete bolt-on kits for the 9" fronts I have. Has anyone compared the two? Opinions on the kits you have would be nice. I am looking for a kit, as I'm not confident of my ability to fabricate and I'm not sure about all the parts necessary. If there are other kits, I welcome your input on those as well. Stock rims aren't an issue for me, as I need new tires anyway-instant rim excuse!

To the best of my knowledge there is nothing for the 9" drum spindle other than Scarebird.

Weren't most (all?) of the wilwood calipers not street worthy because they didn't have dust boots?

Both Doctor Diff and Just suspension's websites claim to have 9" conversion kits. I was wondering if anyone had tried them, or the Engineered Components Inc. conversion kits. I have no idea about the dust boots, Pierre.

New disc brake knuckles are only $200 from Doctor Diff. If you buy the new knuckles then you can use junkyard disc brake kits.

I would guess that Cass' (Dr. Diff) kit is more street oriented. The Wilwood kits are pretty much race only, but can be used on the street in mild climates.

I have dealt with Dr. Diff a few times. He has always been super to buy from.

The Wilwood kit I'm looking at is Forged Dynalite Pro Series Front Brake Kit 140-2722-B. It claims to have a dust boot and dust cap. I'm concerned about using junkyard parts because I don't know what I'm looking at really. I mean, other than saying "Gee, that's cracked, so it's bad" I couldn't tell a usable part from a bad one.

So far my options for a complete kit are Wilwood, Dr. Diff, and who? Scarebird, from what you all have posted isn't a complete kit, but are there other kits available that I just haven't seen?

I would triple check about the dust boots for that particular caliper that comes with the kit. IF I looked through the literature right, it comes with caliper number 6816 which, by the pic in the catalog, doesn't come with dust boots. Seems some of their 6 pistol calipers do though.

If this is your daily driver, remember wilwood parts won't be available locally unless you live next to a summit or other speedshop that stocks them.

Let me throw another option in there - I know its not your most favorite, but if you scrounge long enough you may be able to do it cheaper then a $700ish willwood kit. Convert to the 73-76 brakes. Look here for more info.

Wilwood brakes are made for drag racing. They are very lightweight and aren't really designed for a daily driver.

Best option is to upgrade to one of the factory disc brake systems. Either the KH small bolt pattern (not really that great of a system but better than most aftermarket kits) or the '73+ big bolt pattern setup.

Quite frankly, for a daily driver I wouldn't use anything other than factory parts. Except of course on my own car where I use brakes from a Porsche Twin Turbo!

Looks like I'm going 73-76 BBP. You guys recommend Dr Diff's knuckle-is that the same as the spindle?

Second, where can I get all new 73-76 brakes? Front disc, rear drum setup, trying to find a kit because I need a shopping list of all the parts. Or at least just the fronts, for the moment. Any thoughts on driveability problems mixing the 73-76 front disc and having 9" rear drums?

Thirdly, I was looking at the Redbore dual master cylinder. Anyone tried it, or heard from a friend about it? I should replace the dual pot on the car now, since it's seriously rusty... Would also like any input on other manufacturers of master cylinders, if you have some.
