Where is the best place to tap off 12v for a eddy electric choke? right off the ballast resistor?? Also: the eddy instructions say "DO NOT" tap 12v off the coil +. Why not? what would happen? |

Coil + generally is not 12v. It is somewhat less, because of the ballast resistor. Also the additional current drawn by the choke t-stat will cause an additional voltage drop through the ballast resistor, meaning even less voltage available at the coil. |

OK. that kind of drop at the coil can cause a misfire, esp. with an elect. ignition. Makes sense.... thanks! where to take the power then? |

Take it from the 12v side(supply) of the ballast resistor, not the side that goes to the coil. |
