Hey Guys , I have the motor out of my Valiant and have been checking things on it . I don't know how the bearings are supposed to look but thses look worn to me . The rod journal mikes at 2.187 in 3 places 120 degrees apart on all 6 rod journals ( so they are not out-of-round) . Can I just replace the bearings or should I have the crank inspected ? I hate being a rookie .

Thanks,

Steve

Those don't look too bad at all, I've seen a lot worse. The crank might need a polish and you're good to go!

I've also seen and run much worse. If the budget is tight you might just Plastigauge the clearance and if it's acceptable put those bearings back in. If the budget is a bit better I would have the crank cleaned and polished and use new bearings.
