I have a S6 car that has an electronic ignition. Its not the MP one, I'm assuming its a Petronix one. There is no eletronic ignition box, everything is under the cap. The coil is a pretronix unit. 1.5 ohms. "Flamethrower".

Question: I swapped out coils for an OEM one as a test. Stock was 2.8 ohm. The thing barely started, and ran like crap.

Threw the flamethrower on there...it ran perfect again.

Is the petronix unit THAT sensitive??

Were you also using the ballast resistor with the stock coil? Is the Pertronix +wire connected directly to the coil or is it upstream of the ballast resistor so it gets a full 12V?
