I plan to turbo a /6 in the future and need info on whats needed and what combo I should go with. Itll be in a 78 D100 shortbox. Id like it to be streetable wich most turbo vehicles are. Id be happy with 11-13 range for times. I have a 67-8 motor or a 80 to start with. What pistons, turbo, cam, rockers, head work rods. Thanks for any info given. :D

If your adding only 10psi, a stock motor will work and produce decent power there is many ways to do induction and exhaust so you will have to decide how safistacated you want to get.there is a thousand different options. what is your goal?

I have a stock lower end with Federal Mogul forged pistons. I think these are no longer made. But there are other forged pistons that will work with the right rods. Someone is bound to come on and fill you in. I did rather agressive head work, porting the valve guide bosses inside alot so they are very smooth. The slant six head is the major weakness in the end.

I had the head trued up, and ended up with 8;1 calculated compression ratio. I think maybe this is too high. When I get boost over 9 psi, I get into preignition. I would try for 7:1 maybe. That is just my opinion. Others will have their theories as well. And they will come on and offer them for sure.

Good luck, Sam

Well my truck is lightend to 3700,runs drag radials, use nitros to launch, and boost the head gasket right out of it. all for a mid 11 quarter.
without nitros I run mid 12s. but its tough to get the weight moving with a little motor
by the way Sam I run a 8.6 CR and 18 psi of boost with no knock, maybe its time for a little water/meth for you
