I am replacing the motor in the 69 D100 with the rebuilt slant out of a 66 Dart that had a 904. I got the pilot bushing problem solved and have a new clutch ready to go. I had the flywheel resurfaced today but before I bolt it up to the auto crank I was wondering if there is any certain way that I should mount it to avoid vibration? I am using the harmonic balancer off the truck on the new motor just so it goes with the flywheel. Does it really matter what way I arrange the 6 holes for the flywheel or can I just bolt it up and go?

The crank in the truck motor has an extra non threaded hole along with the 6 threaded ones and the crank in the car motor has just the 6 threaded holes. The flywheel has a smaller 1/4" hole that is drilled at an angle and has one hole drilled half way through at the edge for balance. Does that balance hole need to be synced with the harmonic balancer?

I am getting excited about putting the new motor in the truck I don't want to have a brain fart half way through and have to pull it out again. I haven't had a car/truck with a manual tranny since high school so I am in need of a refresher course.

Flywheel only goes on one way.

Yep...you'll hang it on the hub and have to spin it on the crank until you get all 6 to line up...you'll see when you do it.

Another question, is the flywheel out of the '69 or is it a pre-'68 version?

Yeah, that is the new problem...

The crank is the small 66 with an O.D. of 1.555" and the truck is the 69 with an O.D. of 2.160". It bolted up but there is a bigger gap at the bottom. So is there a way to make it work or do I HAVE to get a flywheel for a 66 Dart/D100 ? This sucks!

Do they even make an off set bushing for this? It isn't of by very much but if it is off by enough that I can see it has to cause a vibration. Unless someone has a better idea think that I will have to find a new flywheel for the smaller hub.

Once again......this sucks!

Yep, you've got yourself in a bind. I hope that '66 engine was cheap! How big is that flywheel? If it's the 122 tooth car flywheel it would be pretty easy to find one with a small center hole. If it's the bigger truck flywheel you'll have a harder time. You could make a centering ring if you had access to a lathe, but it would be a concentric bushing not an offset one.

It is a 122 tooth 11 1/2" flywheel. I have a guy on FABO that might have one from a 1966, I am just waiting on a shipping quote from him. If anyone else has one let me know what you want for it.

The 66 slant is the original motor out of my wifes daily driver 66 Dart 270 that I put a late model slant in. This motor was the extra slant so I just rebuilt it and kept it around until we needed it. I will rebuilt the truck motor and that will be the "just in case" motor.

OK, you should be able to find a 122 tooth flywheel with the small center hole pretty easy. I suppose you can save your existing flywheel in case the truck engine ever returns home.

Thats what I was thinking. I have a NP435, slant bell, and fork that I will put it with on the shelf just in case. I decided to keep the 3 on the tree for now and will be keeping my eye out for an aluminum OD 4 speed to put in later. The guy on FABO has one that has been resurfaced that he will sell me for 45 bucks plus 18 for shipping (beats $110 + 34 shipping on ebay) so I am going to get that one and I will be golden!

Thanks for your help!
