I have been observing the current posts and the past for some time concerning engine builds. My situation seems to be a little different than most on the forum as I am putting a '73 slant in a '37 Plymouth sedan delivery. I do not know the weight, but I'm sure that it will weigh more than the typical A body and it will be pushing considerable more air, therefore I think that cam choice will be critical. I have made some decisions on a rebuild, larger valves, hardened seats, mild port and polish, milling block/heads to get to 9.5 compression ratio. The lower end will probably stay stock except for balancing pistons/rods.
As this will be primarily a cruiser, show car and occassional trip to the nostalgia drags, appearance is important. I am leaning towards Aussie Speed intake w/2 or 4 barrell and Aussie exhaust, if available in time ,other wise Dutra Duals.
I have a 3.23 ratio sure grip 8 1/4 inch rear end and a 904 transmission.
Any and all comments, criticisms and suggestion will be appreciated.
Thank you, Jerry

For pushing the weight a E254 .435 lift is good. But maybe some of the other guys have tried Doc's new profiles RV10 and RV15 in some heavy cars and trucks... :?:

9.5:1 might be a little bit high for a truck-like vehicle. More road load means more horsepower, more heat and pushing closer to the detonation limit. Still, it's not a 2 ton truck. I'd probably go for 9:1 and a cam with about 260° advertised duration on the intake side. This will keep a good idle and will work with a stock torque converter, but will be quicker with a higher stall converter. I wouldn't get carried away with the converter as the stall speed needs to be below the highway cruising RPM to not overheat the trans and waste fuel with excessive slippage.

Will the Aussie Speed intake fit under the narrow hood? Does it need to?
