What would be the effect of using solid wires with resistor plugs? The engine doesn't smoke, but the plugs are all black with carbon. It seems the solid wires might cause that, but I don't know why.

This is on my 318. And I am using the standard RN12YC Champions. I took out the Autolite 65's (56's?).

Any comments would be appreciated.

I don't think that will fix anything, unless your old wires are bad. Sounds rich...
