Just as the title says.

904 going in 65 Valiant. Will be a street /strip car. It will start out primarily strip but I'm sure will move to the street rather quickly. Just want someones recommendation on what to get. I see the prices vary quite a bit and want to get the right thing.

I think the convertor I have for it is a 3200 stall. Correct me if I'm wrong Lou.

HUGHES will also make you one, and it it also is not a reverse Valve body. I ran one in the 90's and with a 5.0 lever. It was fast but you had to watch your trans temp when dialing in.

I don't know exact converter stall, but probably around 3000, yes.

Trans Go seems to be best regarded. I've done my own homebuilt shift kits, but a commercial one will be more reliable in results.

What am I not getting?


The stock 1-2 and 2-3 shift springs are reused, so how can you change the shift points if you're not using stiffer springs or shimming the spring for more pressure?

I'll partially answer my question..........

I've been going over the TF2 instructions and the transmission flow diagrams in the FSM.


Transgo raises the line pressure and modifies the throttle valve so that's there's more pressure to counteract the governor pressure to delay an up shift.

You adjust the throtlle valve so that you adjust the shift point.

The instructions talk about adjusting the 1-2 shift point with the throttle valve adjustments.


There is no mention of the 2-3 upshift.


Adjusting the throttle valve would raise both the 1-2 upshift and the 2-3 upshift.


That may be fine if you want both upshifts to go up, but what if you need just the 1-2 upshift to change?


(currently my WOT 904 shifts 1-2 at 3000rpm and 2-3 at 4000rpm)



So I still think I'm missing something..........
