Had a bit of tranny leak from a couple of the bolts being stripped by the previous owner and finally decided to remedy it. So I bought this crappy OEM fix-a-thread tool from Pepboys and tapped 3 threads (the plastic part of the handle stripped while doing this) then when I go to set the insert, part of the tools' tang broke off and is stuck in there. Not sure what to do, I tried removing with tweezers, a couple of needle nose pliers (a bit too big). So now short of buying surgical grade forceps I am not sure what to do, How do you remove the Heli Coil inserts? I would rather not have to drill it out and tap the next bigger size, any suggestions?

BTW: Dont buy any tools from OEM "tools for professionals" everthing but the tapping bit broke.

I've never had your problem when I used a helicoil; maybe you could use a left-hand-thread screw extractor to back the coil out. I got mine from Sears years ago.

True "Heli-coils" are constructed like a wire "spring" so lift-up and grab the end of the first coil, then pull hard... the coil wire should straighten-out & pull right out of the hole.
