Wanted to race at the 1/8th mile track in San Diego,Barona raceway.They had a bracket race sat so I left fri nite trying to get away from incomming rain.Went 3/4 of the way and got a hotel.Woke up to light rain.Drove to track just to see where it was and to see if I was the only idiot.There were 4 other idiots in there motor homes and said they were going to run it the next day,today.Determined to run this track and show them a fast slant,drove to town 10 miles to get a room.Sold out.Went to next closest town,sold out.Went back to track and tried to sleep in the front seats of the Sububan,cold,no sleeping bag, miserable.Really determined I got tru tech and made my first and only pass,spun bad,hooked hard shifted wierd and was a lousy run.Went back to pit to re group.When I re started car to make anouther run It moved in park and I didnt have reverse,and made grinding noises in tranny.Tried adjusting the cable but would get noise out of tranny only with rear of car jacked up,and no reverse.Something isnt right inside the trans.Packed up and came home.Probably the most depressed I have been in 20 years.Going to holloween party tonight with raceing jacket and helment on as a depressed drag racer.If I can get the kinks out of my lower back.Mark

That sucks Mark. Hope it isn't too serious, but it probably is. Spinning and hooking is very bad on a Torqflite.

That Saturday morning rain in SD came down on our parade too. If Id known you were in town you could have stayed with us in Solano Beach.

Since the race car is dead,I am going to race my pink,SANDSTONE bone stock car this weekend.I refuse to let a broken race car stop me from raceing.What will a 18 second car in the 1/4 do in the 1/8th?Raceing again only alot slower Mark

Mark what did it run at Vegas for the 1/8, should be at least that.
Not that you have had much more experience since then.

I admire your tenacity Mark!

I actually made it to the Wednesday night Test & Tune at Ohio Valley Dragstrip a couple weeks ago just to watch and get a feel for the track.

The track is about 15 miles outside the gate to Fort Knox (32 miles from my house).

I was there for about 5 minutes before my cell phone rang and I had to leave to pick up kids from swim practice.
