Is a 1967 A Body K Frame of a different design than the earlier 63- 66, and later 68-72 frames? In other words were they a one year only oddity? And if so, what was the difference.

Reason I ask is; my ADCO Anti Sway Bar has never quite fit properly, or so it looks to me. It demanded reshaping the lower brace centered under the radiator / lower frame cross member & cross bar. As well as moving bushing attachment points on leading edge of K frame to move bar rearward, and lower so that link assembly would be more vertically orientated.

Now that I have removed power steering brackets & pump for repainting, the sway bar shows excess movement, and chafing on outer leg of K member requiring yet another repositioning of its bushings.

Factory hole to right of existing bracket first mount point. Plan to move bracket an inch or two to center of K Frame:

Is this correct, or should bar bracket be suspended from top bolt, lowering bar several inches exposing it to high obstructions on road?

Link’s angle of the dangle at shock mount looks too out of plumb to me, but works:

Having replaced the one in my '67 valiant with one from a '76 Duster.
The only difference I can tell from the 68-72 versions is the idler arm is mounted differently than the '68-72 and is a one year only part...

The stock sway bar mounts would be almost next to the front K to car frame bolts on the K-member.

Those Addco K-frame mounts for Mopars are the biggest *#$*&#$ piece of crap design I've ever seen. I can't believe any "suspension" company would sell something like that!!

Look at a Hellwig, Hotchkiss, or a factory piece and see how they attached to the k-frame through the front two holes on either side. Nice solid design.

The Addco mounts look weak and are mounted on an L bracket which moves around quite a bit with the suspension.

Put that bar in a better front mount and I bet it would perform much better!

Sorry, just a rant at the piss-poor construction of the Addco mounts. :x

As far as the end links go, mounting the end link from a L bracket on the shock bolt is attempt at making it a "bolt on" design. The factory sway bar control arms have the tab on the bottom of the control arm.

This picture is of the Firm Feel setup on their website. Great stuff that is well engineered.

Yeah, along with a several others one year wonders such as radio antenna, and windshield gaskets…

Scott, I agree those “Lâ€￾ brackets are rather lame-o, any ideas where I could get a set of mounts compatible with an Addco bar? I have never seen a factory mount, and I don’t have the necessary equipment to fabricate something up.

Here's my 64 Addco mount:

I reinforced it like this: (don't have pic, but compare this to pic in lower left above)

Mucho better now

My mounts are closer to the bends in the bar, and at a different spot on the K-member.

Can you mount them more like mine?

Ed,

Thanks for the photos, my original mounting look close to what you did.

My first mounting per instructions, of bar’s “Lâ€￾ bracket was to second factory hole in “Kâ€￾ member from its terminus. This resulted in locating bar an inch closer to bumper, resulting in an increase in angle placing link out of plumb longitudinally. By repositioning the mounting an inch or two closer to center of car the bar moved rearward reducing the longitudinal angle at link & lower control arm, as well as lowered its relative position to road surface. Which I thought would improve the way forces were transmitted by lessening the vectors from plum, or getting them closer to 90 degree angles.

Now I see that the “Lâ€￾ brackets are moving as bar flexes in their new position. In other words by locating bar’s mount point closer to center of car, more force is exerted to them, causing greater flexing.

That bracket Firm feel uses looks to attach in the two factory mounting holes at the outer most point on “Kâ€￾ member, and lowers elevation of bar so it is more to parallel to road surface making a substantially stronger attachment.

I don’t understand your improved Addco mounting geometry from the diagram you provided. I’m not clear as to its view orientation: straight on looking from under bumper to rear of car; from side, looking from front tread of tire to opposite side of car; or straight down or “plan viewâ€￾, viewing from above with hood open.

Disregard the 2 top pictures, they're the rear............

The diagram is a top view, looking down, just like the lower left photo.

It doesn't really show the L bracket.

I must be dense. I can’t grasp how a spacer improves the geometry, and securing of components. Could you get a photo of your set up for my viewing pleasure?

If someone else could provide a photo or two of a factory set-up showing how the bar’s bushings attach to the K member, I would greatly appreciate it.

Geometery doesn't change, do the best you can do.

You stop the bracket from flexing thru the L bracket because it's also attached at the top to the K member (through-bolt with spacers between the bracket and K member)

After set up and getting everything to clear I welded the brackets to keep them from moving. Remember to "load" the suspension before tightening the bushings and end links. Ya they hang low on my 67 too. Got the gouges in my driveway to prove it.

Oh… Top bolt is through bolted. That makes better sense. Got it.
