Best ET at Medford 19.498 at 71 point something mph! :D

2.76's-R-Not-Quick!

The car was shifting into third at the traps. Shift point was at 4000 RPM.
Perhaps I should tweak it down to shift sooner. (While it's still pulling.)

A fun first outing! (Nothing Broke.)

Hi CJ...THanks for joining our Killer Bee Racing Team and for your support
at Medford. You finally got that carb working better and better and you just kept going faster and faster. Was the track "accomodating and how many runs were you able to run on Sat/Sunday? See you at Woodburn...

I used to shift my stock super six Aspen at 4500, and I ran 18.90s in good air, 18.70s when I took out some weight.

The track was great! the officials really helped this newbie out a bunch. On Friday they let me run DOT, though I went out on the first pass.
I ran so many Test and Tunes, I think I would have put on less mileage running Circle track! I need to get all my Time slips in order as well. When I got home there was a big wad of them in the Glove Box. :)

Took almost a full second off from Saturday to Sunday going back to my "Too Rich" jetting. The drop aircleaner should be in today. I went ahead and installed my 2" spacer under the 390, so need a shorter breather to clear the hood. It looks like I'm too rich in the primary circuit now, and I'm getting acceleration surge at WOT. At cruise the mixture falls off the narrow band. No Lean surge noted, but I haven't run the car much since modifying the intake tract. No "Bog," but the power comes on in steps.

Saturday I plan to lock the secondaries out and get the primary circuit straightened out. Then I'll start somewhere around my Purple spring and see where the secondary circuit is running.

I may need to fool around with the bleeds that were mentioned in another post on the forum. Haven't tried that yet. Not quite sure what that entails, but should be able to figure it out with a book and a bit of snooping. The way the power surges, I'm wondering if the secondary circuit is too slow. Too early to speculate.

There is some question about our "On-Call" schedule at the end of the month. One of my co-workers has a sick family member, so Woodburn is tentative right now. I've got a 30 minute leash on me when I carry the pager. That puts Woodburn outside the response range. When I know more, I'll let you know.

My cam isn't pulling above 4000. I had the Lokar cranked up for a 4000 RPM shift point. It felt like the thing was never going to get there.

I'm going to open the exhuast up a bit more and see if that helps, but I really need to get a hotter cam in it. With the new engine coming, I don't want to sink a bunch of money in the engine right now.

I'll crank the Lokar back a bit, and see if I can get the shift points down a couple hundred RPM and back into the power.

Broke out at Medford with a 19.19 during the Inliner event. Who Knew!

Now on a 600 Holley. Picked up a couple tenths over the 390 Holley.

This update is in prep for major repairs. The passenger side frame rail is cracked near the front mount point for the K-Frame.
The car feels like it's crabbing a bit. Parked until repairs are made and Subframe connectors are fabbed!

The new Engine should be ready for next season. If not, there'll be a different cam and a bunch off the head on the old mill. :D

A bit strange, but my all stock 63 Dart with an all stock 225 with a 1 barrel carb, 904 trans, and 2.76 gears ran a best of 19.05 @ 73 spinning the tires through the 330 ft markers, running in drive.
Hmmm. Vehicle weight shouldn't be that different.

Vehicle weight is different. Early A-bodies are 300-400 lbs lighter if I recall correctly. The Dart, with a longer wheelbase, is a bit heavier than an equivalent Valiant but both are considerably lighter than the '67+ models.

74 is probably 400 lbs heavier than 63, yep.

Best time at Vegas was 20.015. The poor old motor was wheezing pretty good up there!

It rolled 20.015 twice in competition. Pretty consistent. About right considering altitude and rise in the track. Mike looked things over and found that the track runs uphill!

I'm pulling the engine and tranny right now. The stack and wiring harness are off. Oil is drained. I'll crawl underneath and drain the tranny next.
After that I'll drain the coolant and drain the block in prep to pull the engine/tranny as a unit.

The puke bottle is leaking again. Time for a new one! I went through the vendors boxes at MATS, but didn't see "MY" overflow bottle. I'll work on finding one again tomorrow.

Romeo was in the Swap section with a bunch of really neat stuff! If I could have figured out how to haul it home I would have bought the scooter he had "Make an Offer" on! :D
That'd make a great pit bike!
There were a lot of racers that Romeo came through for. Thanks for helping our group get back on the track Sir!

Off to pull the pan off the transmission! My new one has a drain plug thanks to Mike Bjerkland. That'll make life a lot easier!

I'm a happy camper! (Very dirty, but happy non-the-less!)

I have a generic sitting on the shelf, and I know the pick-a-part in Turner has a Volare and a 5th Avenue that still have theirs that should fit in the stock mounting locations...

It's an illusion. The track itself is level, the shut down runs way uphill making it look like the track runs uphill.

Congrats on going faster! Faster is funner.
