first: any recommendations for plug wires or does it really matter. Second: why two slots on the dist. I know the one facing the fan is for timing adjustment whats the one under for. Third: How much modifying until the dist needs to be recurved. Thanks for the help as usual.

About your second and third questions, I don't know. As far as plug wires, I used to have a set of BWD plug wires on my '78 Volare's slant, they seemed to work fine. I now have a set of Accel plug wires, cut to the proper length. They seem to be working well. If your slant is not heavily modified, a stock set of plug wires should be fine, in my opinion. Wes |

I think Both slots are for adjusting timing so you don't have to change the gear tooth location that the distributor is driven by. The bolt underneath is accessed by using a 7/16" box end wrench which has a 90° turn to clear the oil filter and distributor body. Doc has a picture of one. Almost anytime you change the engine or it's external parts such as : Induction, exhaust, shaving the head, boring the block, new cam (non-stock replacement for more performance) you should look into a recurve in my opinion, to make sure everyone plays nice. ~RDE~ |

The "bottom" slot is a "major" adjustment, while the "top" one is a minor one. When you change a dist. gear, the alignment could be way off from what it was. When I change the gear, I lock the top bolt down in the center of the slot, then set the timing with the bottom bolt. That way I have good adjustment from then on only using the top bolt. Hope that helps. |

Thanks for all the help. THOR I did a lot of work on this one shave head & block, 4 bbl intake, headers, new cam. Any recommendations for dist work in this area? |
