Sorry to keep harping on this topic, but I have another question.

I traded e-mails with the owner of AKH Whgeels in Ellensburg, Washington ( www.akhwheels.com ) and asked him if he had any 15x6 or 15x7 slotted mags in stock that had 4 inches or more of backspacing. He responded that he didn't have any such rims and that "no manufacturer ever built a 7" wheel with a 4" backspacing."

That's odd, because I have a set of 15x6 late 70s factory Chrysler aluminum rims that have 4 inch backspacing.

Anyhow, here are my questions:

(1) Is it true that no slotted mag style wheel was ever produced with the Mopar correct 4 inch back spacing?

(2) If so, what tire size, rim size, and rim offset do people who have 67-73 a-bodies with slotted mags run? I know I have seen Darts and Valiants and Dusters with slotted mags on all four corners, how does one get away with that? 15x6 or 15x5 front rims with 3.5 backspacing?

All the A bodies I've seen with slotted mags on the front have had much smaller tires than are possible with the correct offset wheels and most have been 14". The A bodies I've seen with slotted mags on the back most always had the rear end jacked way up so the body didn't rub the tires.

I have never found an Ansen Sprint type wheel with the correct offset for a Mopar. Doesn't mean they don't exist, but in 10+ years of looking off and on I haven't found any.

If you must have Ansen Sprint wheels the best choice seems to be the new ones made by American Racing. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ARE-A695765/ $140/ea really isn't that awful for a new AL wheel.

Yeah, I have been eyeballing the American Racing reproductions. If I can sell the current monster oversize rims for enough money I might very well just pay for the new rims. However, I am a cheap b@$tard and with try and save costs wherever possible.

Here is a set of Appliance slots with 4.25 backspace....and 235/60 tires.,,,,,5x4.5 x 7"

Go get a set of V6 Mustang 17" wheels and tires from the wrecker.

V6 Mustang around 99-2004 were 16X7.5", V8 Mustang GT rims in that year range are 17X8". Both are cheap takeoffs now...

I don't know the back spacing on the 2 sets I have owned but the reason the back of the Valiant was "jacked up" was due to the super stock springs. The 235/60R14's wouldn't have rubbed with stock springs but I couldn't get them off unless the spring was at droop, even the super stockers (it was a realy tight fit).

The ones I have on the Dart Vert are Anson Sprints (what a pita finding lugnuts) I have had no trouble with rubbing but it only has 185/75R14's on all four corners.

Mine were all on 4-wheel drum brake cars.
