Several spots to look for casting & other numbers are: Above freeze plugs on left side of block On top of machined surface of block protruding out from under head below plug # one behind alternator. Under valve cover between valve springs and driver’s side of head. Transmission & rear-end will have numbers stamped and or cast on them as well. Additionally one can tell if engine is a 170cid. by measuring short coolant hose between water pump & head. If it is about 1" it's a 170cid., if it is about 3" it could be either 198cid. or 225cid. This thread should be moved to “Other†|

"On top of machined surface of block protruding out from under head below plug # one behind alternator" The numbers will be hard to find, clean the dirty goo off and you should be able to read them. Richard |

Me quoting me: Quote: Several spots to look for casting & other numbers are:
Above freeze plugs on left side of block Click on red words for a hot link to more information. In this case it will take you to a Mopar decoding site. |
