I picked up a spare carb at a local yard today for my 82 d150. It supposedly came off the same year. The chrysler part no. is 287033, carb no. is 40056, and what I think is date code 2912. Anyone know what this was originally used on? It does not have the bowl vent solenoid. Dogear |

None of those is a valid number. Chrysler P/Ns have 7 digits (newer ones, starting in the early 2000s, have 7 or 8 digits plus two letters). "40056" is not a carburetor number. 2912 isn't a meaningful number either. If you see four numbers following the word "LIST", that'll be a Holley number. Maybe you'd do better to post some photos. |

If the carb is truly the original 1982 carburetor, then it will be a Holley 1945 or a Holley 6145. Pictures will help greatly in identifying your carburetor. |

Thanks, Reed. It appears to be the same as the original, with some differences, such as bowl vent solenoid. I was hoping the part no. would tell what vehicle it came on, just for my own curiosity. So far I haven't found a link to Chrysler carb part numbers. Dogear |

That's like the 1945 I pulled off an 85 d150. I'd imagine you have leanburn so this probably wouldn't apply. But my carb that had a bowl vent solenoid had a ported spark tube. The 1945 from the '85 didnt have a bowl vent solenoid and didn't have a ported spark tube either. So if you ever do hei you will have to get a new carb. I just got a 1920 because I swapped throttle bodies and found out afterwards it didn't have a ported spark tube for vac advance. Cody |
