Wanting to change the timing chain, pan gasket and seals.

Can a slant rear seal be successfully changed with the crank in?

Yes, see FSM. Need a soft metal tool to push out top half while rotating crank, or wooden or plastic dowel could work.

I've done it once, and it worked.
