Okay, so my marker light/tail light works all the time when I pull the switch, but the problem is that my brake light and turn signal don't work all the time on the driver (left) side, and its very intermittent because it can work for 10 seconds and then go out again, then come back on, then I lose it again 3 hours later, so on and so forth. The wiring has been hacked into, and someone spliced in a little box about 2x1x1" into the taillight on that side, it has two green wires going to each main wire of the bulb socket, then it has a black ground, and then a yellow wire to nothing So I need some help guys, do you think maybe the wires have come apart at these little splices? I'll take some pictures tomorrow when I can and get them posted so you can see the wiring for yourself. I've checked the bulb visually, with a multimeter and tried changing it.

just a tip. I went through two flasher relays before i got one that worked correctly. What would happen is the contacts inside would stick. so id have to reach down and bang on the bottom of the dash till my turn signal started blinking again. just a thought.

Thanks for the thought, but its specifically the rear light, the front left still works, just the brake/turn on the rear left doesnt work sometimes

Check grounds & splices for that light, and also bulb could be on its way out with a make & brake filament. The other item that can cause strange things to occur with lights is a sloppy directional signal switch not making full contact with all its internal bits.

A simple test of switch is to gently pull directional signal switch lever in direction of steering wheel, and observe if those lights start to work correctly. This pulling action compresses the switch’s moving parts and makes for a better engagement of its contacts.

If restoring the wiring to unhacked status doesn't fix it, the problem is in your turn signal switch. Replace it.

If someone added a widget (black box) that doesn't do anything & is possibly causing your problem then you should remove it, repair the tail light wiring & recheck. That could have been something like a trailer light converter?

Not long ago I had a similar problem - it eventually turned out the the 1157 light bulb's filament was loose internally - sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't. It always checked perfectly when I tested it until I thought to tap it at the same time.

To add onto that. I have a trailer that has a bad contact for the turn signal in the light socket, it's kinda loose. I was checking all the lights and that was the only thing wrong. I wriggled it in there and it worked. Go over a bump, it looses contact sometimes and only works as a brake/ running light. So a bad socket mAy be possible too.
