i found a complete 83 van being parted out. slant six/4 speed overdrive.

i have a 76 d100(318/automatic)

i'm getting a 66 slant six out of a barracuda(automatic)


-i should get the matching flywheel from the vans slant?

-will the pedal assembly work from the van onto my truck?
-the truck has a plate in the firewall, left side pedal
area. looks to me it is for a clutch pedal

-will the steering column/gearbox from the van fit in my truck?

-will i be able to use the driveshaft from my pickup?

-anything else i should think of?

side note: 66 barracuda doesnt have power steering, if i remember right when i looked at the car.

-what will i need to attach and properly align the power steering pump/pulley from my 318 onto the slant?

-should i get the power steering pump/pulley from the van?

Yes. Why not just take the whole motor from the van?

Steering column, no. Gearbox, *maybe*, and it is a big maybe. I would say no just to be safe.

Possibly, but why not just grab the one from the van? It might be a different length but you know the transmission yoke is correct and the shaft can be shortened. if nothing else just grab the front yoke.

Get the motor from the van. Even if you don't use the motor itself, 80s era Dodge van slant sixes often came equipped with some nice goodies such as the superior aluminum one barrel intake, exhaust manifolds with a factory O2 sensor, lighter weight internal components (crank and timing gears), and some others I can't think of and a hydraulic lifter camshaft (performance oriented people don't like the hydraulic cam, but for a daily driver they do fine and you don't have to adjust the rocker arms). If the van still has the original distributor and it isn't a lean burn system, I would at least grab the distributor to use in your truck since it will be closer to a optimal curve for a big heavy truck. Also, look for the factory original heat shield for the carb, and if the carb is a non-computerized carb in original good condition, grab that too.

If the van has a tilt steering wheel column, I am looking for the piece that bolts to the end of the steering shaft and attaches to the gearbox.

Also, if the van has a 120 amp alternator it is worth it to grab the alternator, alternator bracket, and charging system wiring. It is also worth it to grab the manual transmission pedal and shifter assemblies from the van since Dodge Van guys are always looking for them. You could sell them easy on www.vannin.com

If the van has any neat custom interior or exterior pieces those might also be worth grabbing and selling to the custom van crowd. Porthole windows are going for high prices these days- like $150 for a pair of crappy condition ones. If the van has a slider on the side, check if it has a custom extender bracket to make the door stick out farther to clear fat rear tires. Those are always in demand. If the van has a big rear door without a window, guys will pay big bucks for that.

A slant six power steering pump bracket to match the pump.

If the Barracuda engine is original you'll need a small center hole flywheel. The '68+ flywheels have a larger center hole.

Vans are built very much like Chrysler passenger cars. They are unibody and use passenger car steering boxes. Trucks are body on frame and use different steering boxes and 4x4 steering boxes are different still.

Get the power steering pump, brackets and pulleys which are attached to the van engine. They will fit the Barracuda engine.

Even with all the stuff you have you still need:

Truck clutch pedal and linkage.
Truck power steering box and steering column lower shaft (it's shorter).
Probably power steering hoses.
Slant six radiator or a lower hose with the larger V8 size on the radiator connection. It's probably going to be a flex hose. :?
