I've got a 1987 Dodge Dakota.

Its 3.9 V6 is a cut-down 318 V8 that uses the v8-type distributor.

I'd like to ditch the factory computer and the distributor with the computer-controlled advance in favor of a the simpler mopar ignition system.

Would it be possible to convert the v8 type distributor to accept slant six internals? If so, what is needed?

TIA

The 3.9 is not even fire, sorry. The crank pins are split 22° rather than 30° so the firing interval is 112°, 128°. I was going to put a 3.9 in my '64 Valiant at one time and made a custom reluctor with a rotary table on a friend's milling machine.

I always wondered if somebody was going to put a "paintshaker" in a car. I have one in my Dakota, and it makes you appreciate the smoothness of an inline 6.
