I've got a 1987 Dodge Dakota. Its 3.9 V6 is a cut-down 318 V8 that uses the v8-type distributor. I'd like to ditch the factory computer and the distributor with the computer-controlled advance in favor of a the simpler mopar ignition system. Would it be possible to convert the v8 type distributor to accept slant six internals? If so, what is needed? TIA --Walt Jackson |

The 3.9 is not even fire, sorry. The crank pins are split 22° rather than 30° so the firing interval is 112°, 128°. I was going to put a 3.9 in my '64 Valiant at one time and made a custom reluctor with a rotary table on a friend's milling machine. |

I always wondered if somebody was going to put a "paintshaker" in a car. I have one in my Dakota, and it makes you appreciate the smoothness of an inline 6. |
