Look at what the previous mechanic did (before I took the car) This is the old carb (Solex) setup ... check out the flange... ![]() ![]() He ground and welded the original setup and put the new carb with the flange Fwd-Aft orientation. Original Holley 1920 should be left to right. Now I have to grind the weld off and see if I can install the 1920 the correct way! Errr... Syed |

Just makin' sure, the 1920 Holley carb is supposed to be installed directly on the manifold with the supplied gasket only, and not using any gasket sealant. Am I right? Thanks Syed |

Yes. I can't tell for sure, but it looks like you can unbolt the adapter that was put on the manifold and mount the carb using the factory bolt holes. |

Reed, he is going to need to cut the weld first. Richard |

Oh, I couldn't tell from the pictures where the weld was. Ugh, what a mess. |

Well... at least the intake itself should be re-usable (just thinking positive out of this mess) Syed |

What on earth would he have gained by running the Solex? It's like he spent lots of time building a machine that would continually smack him in the head. ![]() My dad had a 2bbl Solex on his Opel Kadette, it was fritzy & unstable- generally a PIA to work on. |
