The bearings are ok,not getting any noise, but the syncros are definitely showing their age mostly 1 and 2(especially when downshifting),3 and 4 feel really good I am guessing the truck spent most of its life putting around town. Does anyone have a suggestion, other than a rebuild,on a fluid that might work best for the ol girl? Its still about 80 in the day and high 50's at night around here, thats about all the winter we get,so I dont really need anything too thin.

Jared,

I'm going to be a little tough on you for a moment. At least four of the recent topics you've started, this will be number five, have been discussed in depth on the board. If you need help with using the search function we have a place for that too.

Having said that do not use GL5 gear oil in an A833. It's too slippery and doesn't allow the synchronizers to grip very well. I have used Red Line MT-90 (a GL4 75W-90) to good effect in the A833, but you can also use SAE30 motor oil if $9/qt is out of your budget.

Josh-

I have been a member of this site for ten years now,I have gone through 5 different names because of changing emails and forgetting passwords when going with a new computer,or moving. I am well versed in using the search function. I am asking a specific question on a recommendation for what fluid to use in an aging 833 with worn syncros. Im looking for opinions from others who have been in my situation, hoping maybe someone had an old hat trick I have not heard of. I found no search results that pertain to my exact circumstance.

As for my other post on the NP435 I was not able to come up with info on it because all I had to go off of was "granny first trans" which I didnt even know Ma mopar put in front of the slant. I thought all slant six truck 4 speeds were the 833/833od.Then going off of your info I was able to find the answer to my gear spread/ratio by using google. Then i remembered the 4 speeds article on this sight, and read what little insight it had on the NP435.

For my clutch problem, again no dice. Even with using google.

Same for my radio delete question.

For the seatbelts I actually did find the thread that Dan linked before asking, but as I also stated in that thread I was trying to find a US supplier.

I have great respect for you,and always appreciate your insight on any questions I have, but if you feel I am redundant in my postings please feel free to not answer my questions.

Again and as always thank you for your answer to my question,it is very much appreciated.

Jared

Start double clutching (if you already don't). That can make worn syncros much easier to live with. Learn to revmatch on the downshifts while double clutching.

If you already do this, ignore this post.

Jeb-

Thank you, thats a good idea actually.I think will start doing that for 1-2 upshift and the 3-2 downshift!
