My '64 dodge dart goes through points like crazy, no clue why. I was thinking about switching to an electronic ignition conversion kit. Has anyone had any success with this??

Going through points? Is a ballast resistor in the primary circuit?

Now for the answer.
Go with the electronic ignition. You might be able to get an aftermarket system or get one from a salvage yard.

Is it the original distributor.........and does the shaft wobble around in the bushings?

Yes, it would be wise to do the electronic conversion. I'm a cheapskate, so I would be scrounging the salvage yards for usable parts before getting an MP kit.

The capacitor prevents allot of arcing at the points and should be changed along with the points. I remember when I used to run points that a defective capacitor or two came with some cheeper tune up kits I bought. and of course 12v is for starting 6v is for running. A inexpensive volt /ohm meter its great for tracking down all sorts of problems. hope this helps. Bruce Johnson
