Rebuilding my 65 Valiants 225. Bought a new head and while going to install the temp sensor in the water jacket had a bit of a :? moment.

The sensor out of the old head has a 1/2 nut on it. Threads in nice.
Took it out to put in the new/installed head but it just slips through. Looks like the thread itself is 1/2..? Anyone else ever had this issue?

I have read around through this/other sites but seems usually the opposite issue. Im looking for a larger aftermarket sensor but no luck.

Is this something I can buy??

You have a pre-'64 head, which is drilled and tapped for 3/8"-18 Dryseal thread. The '64-up sender has a 1/8"-27 Dryseal thread. Find an adaptor bushing with 3/8"-18 Dryseal OD and 1/8"-27 Dryseal ID.
