when i get to the point of breaking in my new tower of power, and if i do infact go with the dutra dual setup. would it be wise/safe to break it in straight out the manifolds, then driven 5 miles to the exhaust shop, or should i have it towed before i do anything.

i do know its possible to burn an exhaust valve with no back pressure, i just dont know how long it would take :-0

I'm more worried about you not hearing mechanical noises during break-in and shutting the engine down before the damage gets worse that burning an exhaust valve. I've fired off several engines with open headers or manifolds with nothing more serious that the attendant hearing loss. :D Just make sure the exhaust doesn't burn up any wiring or hoses. I would not drive it with open exhaust though. Have it towed to the exhaust shop.
