just changed from points to a pertronix 11. everything working good. but wondering if i need the ballast resistor any more as it's purpose is to make the points keep from burning up prematurely. i am running a 1.5 ohm coil,and know i would get a better spark without the ballast resistor, but don't want to do it at the expense of burning up the coil.
also, the pertronix came with a new rotor, but it is different than the points rotor i removed. i would like to get a spare. does anyone know what they use for a rotor in their kit?

Pertonix II doesn't need the ballast.

It is variable dwell and senses coil voltage.

You can go down to a 0.6 ohm coil if you want too.

they don't tell you that in the directions. they just say to take the pertronix power from the 12 volt side of the resistor. thanks for the input

Yes, you need a full 12 volts to power the module electronics. To get it you bypass the resistor. No need to reduce the voltage any longer with a resistor.....the module will just run poorly.
