Thanks for the input on my cam selection.

I brought the cam from my 62 225 to OCG and they told me it was a 170 and the con rods would hit it if installed in a 225.

The cam is out of my 225 and it appears that is is original. Did the early motors use different rods, is this a fluke or something else?

OCG can notch it for clearance, but if it is not necessary I will tell them not to.

Should I notch, find a different core or have them grind it as it is?

Thanks again!

Sounds like you have one of the thicker shaft cams.
No worry, the con rods will not hit it... grind away.

Are all early cam the thicker shaft? Why the difference, application? Ken at OCG thought they were 170 only and said that most of his /6 cam cores are this style.

Curious?

Cheers!

I have seen many thick 225 cams on the earlier ('63-down?) motors, so I think it was both engines, just an earlier year thing.
