Hey guys, I seem to have misplaced my service manual... What's the proper way to remove the axle seals on an 8 3/4" housing? Do I need a special tool? |

I just use a pair of channel locks, or big screw driver, and pop it out. |

Another "trick" is to use the axle shaft to pop the seal out. Insert the tip of the axle shaft, behind the seal and pry it out. DD |

I used a small chisel to put a dent in the seal and relieve some of the pressure on the seat around the axle housing and then popped it out with the axle like Doc described. |
